Lacrosse Message from Manju Mayachar
As most of you know I am pretty involved in Lacrosse, More involved then I want to be sometimes. I lead the SW Washington Lacrosse Association and Union Lacrosse Club. The purpose of this short note is to make sure that everyone is aware of SWWLA summer lacrosse Camps and Summer League.
Summer League - Some of you already know about this and are planning on attending but just want everyone to be aware. Each week we will spend every Monday devoted to practice with your team and instruction, designed to improve your Individual skills and Team/game knowledge. On Tuesdays we will spend the evening playing lacrosse, giving you the opportunity to show off what you learned in practice while competing in real game situations.
We think over time this will evolve into more of a Summer League for all of Vancouver, WA and Portland teams, but this year we have a great chance to get most of our inexperienced and experienced players to get involved in playing summer lacrosse and introduce it to new players in our community.
Summer Camp – (highly recommend for new players or planning play next season). Come learn how to play the fastest growing youth sport in America OR for the more experienced player, learn how to take your game to the next level. At the day camp you will learn what fun, exciting and athletic sport lacrosse really is. This camp is designed for the beginner OR experienced youth lacrosse player. You will learn the individual fundamentals of lacrosse, as well as basic team offensive and defensive concepts.
Campers will be instructed on individual skills and then apply those skills in fun, game-like, drills and scrimmages. This camp promises to be a fun and valuable learning experience for the new, developing or experienced youth lacrosse player.
9th graders (2012-13) school year - (For Students in Evergreen School district only)
Playing summer ball is now a crucial (if not mandatory) part of growing a strong high school program. Get a jump on next year's spring season by introducing JV players to our varsity system, and help our incoming freshmen get acquainted with high school lacrosse life. Open to everyone who is interested (and eligible) to play for the Union Lacrosse club in the 2013 season. Eligibility will be verified at the first practice.
24 Lacrosse Camp: Players sign up at www.24lacrosse.com and put “Union” in as team. 20 kids for a team and we can earn FOUR scholarships for campers with financial need (need based, not on player’s ability) Camp Objective: Comprehensive team instruction that covers all areas of the game at a Division I pace where players learn together. Coaches learn behind the scenes with classroom sessions and live field mentoring sessions.
Please go check out the website and let us know if you have any questions or your interest level.
