SW Washington Lacrosse will be having U15 ((7th & 8th Grade) select team tryouts . These tryouts are open to anyone in 7th and 8th Grade players from our regular season teams.  We will be evaluating the skill of our 7th/8th Grade players to field a Select Level team to complete in the OYLA 2012 Spring Season. For players who are selected for team will have additional 5-8 games added to their regular games schedule.

"kick off the rust" Lacrosse clinic (stick Only Clinic) 12/10/2011 9am -10:30am @ Felida Park
Clinic designed to teach new players and returning the basics of the game, without having to invest in a full set of equipment.  Bring your lacrosse stick or lets us if you need to borrow a Sticks for use during the clinic, and no other equipment is required.  This is ideal for players who are not sure if they want to play lacrosse but would like to try it out, and also for new players that would like additional help with the basics of lacrosse.  Experienced players are encouraged to attend and focus on the basics of the game. Parents and players -

SWWLA is offering girls youth Lacrosse for player in Evergreen School district and Vancouver School district. Registration fee includes Rental Gear - which included GIRLS Lacrosse sticks and Eyewear (supply is limited and availability is based on first come and first serve).

The program is designed to introduce girls in grades 3rd through 8th grade to the game of Women's Lacrosse. The girls will learn the fundamentals, and basic game concepts in a fun environment. As this program grows we have the opportunity to play other youth programs in the Portland, OR area, participate in tournaments, and host and attend play days. The overall objective of this program is to introduce girls to the wonderful game of lacrosse at an early age so that the sport continues to grow. This program is also meant to be a FEEDER program for existing girls and high schools i.e. Evergreen Girls High School team

Program offerings for spring 2012 - Instructional Level for girls in the 3rd - 8th grades as of the 2011/2012 school year. This is an opportunity to learn the basic skills and concepts of the game of lacrosse.

Coaches are continually amazed with the progress our youth players are making season after season. Our last fall practice is this Saturday (10/29/2011) 9am – 10:30PM at Pacific Community Park

Rental Gear Return Due date : We are collecting all the Rental gear after practice tomorrow (10/29/11 @ 10:35 -11am) and we will return your Security Deposit check. If you are not attending tomorrow practice and renting gear from us, please contact me to make arrangements to return the gear for later date.

Hello Camas and Washougal Parents,

SW Washington Lacrosse Association (SWWLA) is in the process of forming Camas Youth Lacrosse club (CYL) - for players in Camas/Washougal School district and neighborhoods (similar to SWWLA's Evergreen and Vancouver Youth Lacrosse). SWWLA will be provide all the administrative support and manage the club. All we need from you the parents and your players is to spread the word and recruiting new players (talk to them about our FREE rental gear program). We are going hoping to start out with Boys team for Grade 3/4 and 5/6 (U11 and U13) and eventually add on U15 (grade 7/8) team, Girls program and High School Club team (similar to our Union Lacrosse in Evergreen School district).

CYL Team games/practice's will be at one the Camas Elementary or Middle School (Tentative practice field: Skyridge Middle School, Camas, WA). We need minimum of 12 -15 players in Grade 3/4 and at least 15 -18 for grade 5/6. Also, we are looking for parent’s volunteers - for coaching positions, team parent’s position, etc. SWWLA will send Volunteer parents coaches US Lacrosse Clinic in Feb 2012 in Portland, OR and give access to material need to assist head coach.

We decided the FREE Rental Gear is available for both new  & Returning players. We will provide helmets, shoulder pads, arm pads and gloves for use during the spring competitive season. Due to a limited supply of Equipment, we will be distributed on a First-Registered-First-Served basis. So please register early and save your spot.

 
 
 Coaches and staff of the SW Washington Lacrosse Association (SWWLA) welcome you to the 2012 lacrosse season. For those of you unfamiliar with our program, the SWWLA is a total volunteer organization. We are not sponsored or funded by the school district or the City’s recreation department. The program is run by volunteer coaching staff along with the assistance of the parents of all players. We are dedicated to the instruction of the game of lacrosse, sportsmanship, teamwork, and fair play. The SWWLA is open to all students who reside within the boundaries of the Clark County school district and those surrounding towns that do not currently field a youth lacrosse team.

2012 Registration Information

Online Registration and Mail in Form option will be available at www.swwashingtonlacrosse.org starting 10/20/2011 to 12/31/2011. From our web site click the Register Online button and follow the directions. To determine your player’s level (U11, U13, or U15) please use the following chart:

As of December 31, 2011 if your child is:

·         3rd and 4th grade: 10 years of age or under – then your player is U11

·         5th and 6th grade: 12 years of age or under – then your player is U13

·         7th and 8th grade: 14 years of age or under – then your player is U15

If your child is young for his grade and all of his friends are playing in the next level up then you can register your player for that level. Players can play up but cannot play down.

Note: If a Player is in high school, they are NOT eligible to play on any SWWLA U15 team.

The SWWLA will allow teams to begin practice, weather permitting, at the beginning first week of March 2012. Some of the older players in grade 7/8 team may begin practice in Early February 2012.  Practices are typically two to three evenings during the week for all teams. 

Boy’s teams will play games scheduled through Oregon Youth Lacrosse Association. Game schedule for all grades will be posted in Late March 2011. Plan to have ½ the games at home and other ½ games away (Played in the greater Portland area –includes a trip to Hood River, OR) Parents are responsible for their players transportation.

This season, we will also offer a U15 Select team (Boys Grade 7/8) that will be part of the Oregon Youth Lacrosse Association (OYLA). These will be tryout teams (tryout dates to be announced) and they will Weekend games
Registration Fee  

Online registration will include $5 PayPal processing fee
The registration fee this Season for Boys:

10 years of age or under – then your player is U11 (Grade 3/4) $145
12 years of age or under – then your player is U13 (Grade 5/6) $165
14 years of age or under – then your player is U15 (Grade 7/8) $175

This year we will attempt to field Girls Youth Lacrosse teams in Evergreen School district:

Registration fee for (U11- U15) Grade 3-8: $125

Note, Registration fee includes the cost of the US Lacrosse membership (All players will be registered with US Lacrosse through SW Washington Lacrosse) – you do not have to go to US Lacrosse to register your player. Your registration form provides SWWLA with the required information needed on your player. It is through US Lacrosse that the SWWLA receives its liability insurance and certificates of insurance when necessary.

Team rosters will be established in early February 2012. Players who missed the December 31st, 2011 deadline will be placed on a waiting list and assigned a team if there is space available. All families will be contacted in mid-February 2012 to learn the status of their player.

A mandatory parent meeting for all families participating in the spring season program will be held on Early February 2012. The goal of this meeting is to give the parents and opportunity to meet the coaches, ask questions about the program, and hear about the various volunteer opportunities that need to be filled to assure a successful season for the players.
 
Equipment for the 2012 Spring Season: 

Each player must provide his or her own equipment. Girls will need a stick, goggles, and a mouth guard. Boys will need a helmet, shoulder pads, arm guards, gloves, stick, mouth guard, and athletic supporter.  

SW Washington Lacrosse “FREE” rental program – FREE Rental Gear is available for both  new and returning players participating in SWWLA spring competitive season ONLY. We will provide helmets, shoulder pads, arm pads and gloves for use during the spring competitive season. Due to a limited supply of Equipment will be distributed on a First-Registered-First-Served basis. Another reason to register Early! 

CONCUSSION: All players and parents are required to read and sign the concussion policy letter. This form will be available to print out during online registration.

VOLUNTEER "Opt out" FEE:  SW Washington Lacrosse Association has adopted a volunteer "Opt out" fee similar to other youth sports organizations. It takes a lot of volunteers to run the Lacrosse program, some positions involving much time and others just a few hours. The Association requests that at least one parent from each family sign up for a minimum of one volunteer position. For those unable to commit to do so, the SWWLA offers a Volunteer Opt-out option in which a family can pay a $25 fee in lieu of volunteering. During the online registration process, you will be asked to choose a volunteer position or opt out fee.
