OBJECTIVE:
Learning the correct fundamentals of the game are our key focus for 1st & 2nd Graders:  throwing, catching, dodging, ground balls & shooting as well as proper defensive technique. 
Required equipment
Mouth guard – must be a color, not white or clear
Athletic Supporter and Protective Cup
Lacrosse Gloves
Lacrosse Stick
(Lacrosse Helmet, Shoulder Pads and Arm pads not required) 

SW Washington Lacrosse Gear Swap

We will have our first ever Lacrosse Gear Swap at our Free Clinic (March 3rd  @ 9-11am) at Pacific Comm. Park.  But first, we need donations!!So, if your player has out grown any gear or just has upgraded to the latest and greatest, please think about donating to our program. We all know the cost of having a lacrosse player so know that by your donation, you are helping a youngster get their start to a great game.

Please contact Manju Mayachar 360 450 9023(mmayachar@hotmail.com) OR bring your donation to 9707 NE 102nd St. put a note on equipment “For SWWLA Swap” and put by the Garage door. We will also be collecting gear donations at the Grade 7/8 Tryouts this Saturday morning at Pacific Comm. Park.

Lacrosse SWAP will be open to everyone registered to play with SWWLA and Union Lacrosse Club. Its goint be first come first serve regarding equipment you may need. There is NO COST but we are welcome make  a donation.

Titans - you are invited to Pacific Lutheran Vs. University Portland Lacrosse game on 2/11/2012 1pm at Prusynski Field ( University Portland -Prusynski Field, part of the Clive Charles Soccer Complex. Parking is available adjacent to to the field). 
Bring your stick - for 30 min clinic with PLU players after the game. 

We have tentatively scheduled our two try out sessions for upcoming spring select teams for Feb 18th and Feb 24th. While we encourage everyone to attend both sessions to show us your talent, you need to make at least one of the two try outs to be considered for the team.

Players must be registered with SWWLA for our spring season program to tryout.

Intro to Lacrosse Clinic - January 28th 2012 @ Pacific Community Park

10:30 am -11:30am - Free Clinic (for new and returning players). Stick only Clinic- Player bring you lacrosse stick and mouth guard. Rain or Shine event!!  Q & A - Parents/Players, if you are new to our and have questions - please come by early and ask your questions with our board and coaching staff.

Open to everyone - Clinic designed to teach new players and returning the basics of the game, without having to invest in a full set of equipment.  Bring your Mouth Guard and lacrosse stick or lets us if you need to borrow a Sticks for use during the clinic, and no other equipment is required.  This is ideal for players who are not sure if they want to play lacrosse but would like to try it out, and also for new players that would like additional help with the basics of lacrosse.  Experienced players are encouraged to attend and focus on the basics of the game.

SW Washington Lacrosse will be having U15 ((7th & 8th Grade) select team tryouts . These tryouts are open to anyone in 7th and 8th Grade players from our regular season teams.  We will be evaluating the skill of our 7th/8th Grade players to field a Select Level team to complete in the OYLA 2012 Spring Season. For players who are selected for team will have additional 5-8 games added to their regular games schedule.

Parents and players -

SWWLA is offering girls youth Lacrosse for player in Evergreen School district and Vancouver School district. Registration fee includes Rental Gear - which included GIRLS Lacrosse sticks and Eyewear (supply is limited and availability is based on first come and first serve).

The program is designed to introduce girls in grades 3rd through 8th grade to the game of Women's Lacrosse. The girls will learn the fundamentals, and basic game concepts in a fun environment. As this program grows we have the opportunity to play other youth programs in the Portland, OR area, participate in tournaments, and host and attend play days. The overall objective of this program is to introduce girls to the wonderful game of lacrosse at an early age so that the sport continues to grow. This program is also meant to be a FEEDER program for existing girls and high schools i.e. Evergreen Girls High School team

Program offerings for spring 2012 - Instructional Level for girls in the 3rd - 8th grades as of the 2011/2012 school year. This is an opportunity to learn the basic skills and concepts of the game of lacrosse.
